Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called for AI technology to be used for the benefit of humanity and peace. It is imperative that technology such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data is infused into the defence sector at the right time. This will enable the sector to stay up to date with technological advancements, he said. In New Delhi today, Mr Singh launched 75 newly-developed Artificial Intelligence products at the first-ever symposium and exhibition on Artificial Intelligence in Defence.

Timely introduction of AI and Big Data is crucial, says Defence Minister SinghProducts were launched in the fields of automation, robotics, cyber security, human behavior analysis, intelligent monitoring, logistics and supply chain management, and computer and intelligence. As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the products were launched. Artificial Intelligence has been characterized as a revolution in the development of humanity by Minister Singh.

According to Mr Singh, Artificial Intelligence is making inroads in almost every field, including defence, health and medicine, agriculture, trade and commerce, and transportation. To bring about a radical change in the sector, he urged all defence stakeholders to enhance the jointness of human consciousness and the ability of Artificial Intelligence. Military devices equipped with artificial intelligence can handle large amounts of data efficiently, he said. This is also proving to be very beneficial for soldiers’ training, he said.

India will soon rank among the leading countries in the field of artificial intelligence, Mr Singh predicted. Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Defence Minister, has said that whoever leads the development of artificial intelligence has the potential to take over the world’s leadership. The country, however, does not wish to become a world ruler since it believes that the entire world can only be viewed as one big family, Minister Singh concluded.
