Mr  Kiren Rijiju  added that the Government has asked the chief justices of High Courts to give due consideration to suitable candidates from the SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities and women while sending proposals for the appointment of judges. However, he made it clear that according to the Bar Council of India, the Advocates Act, 1961 does not provide for any special provision or reservation for women in appointments in higher judiciary.
