Asserting that technology has positively impacted women in rural India, Union Minister Smriti Irani said she has noticed a rise in women who have become more digitally literate as a result. She said that at a virtual seminar discussing Women and the Digital Economy: Atmanirbhar Nari, Atmanirbhar Bharat, the use of technology is a testament to the visionary mindset of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Women should not do business that serves only profit and not mankind or womankind, she said. UPI, according to her, created history in the country, and COVID-19 has given it even greater opportunities. Countries that have neglected small businesses have made a grave financial mistake, said the Minister. She pointed out that growth is holistic when it is beneficial to all segments.
