PM Modi says India-US friendship is an integral part of development journey

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the India-US friendship would be an integral part of India’s development journey for the next 25 years. The Prime Minister shared this during a virtual interaction with US President Joe Biden last evening. Mr Modi stated, India and the US are natural partners as they are two of the biggest democracies of the world.

The Prime Minister said that India was concerned about civilian safety in Ukraine and the uninterrupted supply of humanitarian aid, including medicine and relief materials, to them. Modi expressed concern over the recent killings of innocent civilians in Bucha, Ukraine.

As US President Joe Biden noted in his opening remarks, India and the US share a strong and growing defence partnership. Continual consultation and dialogue are key to ensuring that the India-US partnership grows stronger. Both leaders discussed a number of regional and global issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic, global economic recovery, climate action, recent developments in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific region, and the situation in Ukraine.
