Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Benjamin Gantz, who is on an official visit to India, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The leaders discussed the rapid growth of defence cooperation between India and Israel over the past few years. Israeli defence companies were encouraged to benefit from opportunities of co-production and co-development in India by Mr Modi.
There are strong military and strategic ties between the two countries, including intelligence sharing on terrorist groups and joint defense training. In terms of bilateral trade, excluding military sales, India was Israel’s third-largest Asian trading partner, and it was its tenth-largest trading partner in the global economy as of 2019.
