Indian exports could reach a trillion dollars by 2030 – Minister Goyal

The Indian Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, stated that India could achieve one trillion dollars in merchandise and services exports by 2030. The Minister stressed the need to make exports the fulcrum of India’s growth in New Delhi at the 21st Civil Services Day – 2022, Plenary Session – Aatmanirbhar Bharat – Focus on Exports. The country achieved 419 billion US dollars in exports in the financial year 2021-22, touching 30 billion US dollars of exports every month. In March, the country reached 42 billion dollars in exports.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat’s achievement not only marks a milestone in the country’s journey, but serves as a sign to the world about the country’s quality-oriented, reliable, and scalable nature.

In highlighting the immense potential for export growth, the Minister said that employment-generating sectors like gemstones, jewelry, textiles, pharmaceuticals, weaving, handicrafts, and leather should be given more attention. In congratulating civil servants on the occasion of 21st Civil Services Day, Mr Goyal said that it was an occasion for them to re-affirm their commitment to the cause of the nation and to public service.
