India, Israel adopt vision statement to pave way for future defence cooperation

India and Israel discussed key defence issues, including global and regional scenarios. New Delhi hosted a bilateral meeting between Israeli Defence Minister Benjamin Gantz and Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. According to Mr. Singh, both countries have adopted a vision statement that will pave the way for future defence cooperation. Between the two countries, there is a broad consensus on further strengthening mutual strategic and defence cooperation.

Military-to-military activities have increased despite challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the two ministers. Research and Development in future technologies and defence co-production were discussed as ways to increase cooperation in all domains.

The two Ministers acknowledged that there are challenges facing each other in terms of security and that they have similar positions on a number of strategic and defence issues. Both Ministers expressed their commitment to work together to enhance cooperation in all forums. There was also an exchange of a Letter of Intent between the two Ministers regarding the enhancement of cooperation in the field of futuristic defence technologies. Earlier in the day, Mr. Gantz visited the National War Memorial and laid a wreath at the memorial in honor of the fallen soldiers of the country. A Ceremonial Guard of Honor was given to him before he met with Mr Singh on a bilateral basis.
